We are deeply saddened to share that Mary “Barbara” Carufe passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Hillsborough NJ, on April 10, 2023. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be remembered for her boundless kindness and compassion for others. Her love for the arts was evident in her passion for sewing, needlepoint, cooking and gardening. She will forever be remembered for her love of digging in her beautiful gardens, which she referred to as the best form of therapy. Barbara was a devoted parishioner of Mary Mother Of God Church in Hillsborough, NJ.
Barbara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Damion and Sherri Carufe, daughter, Martina Calvelli, daughter-in-law, Karen Carufe , seven grandchildren, Paul Richard Carufe III, Meghan Rae Carufe, Rachel Elisabeth Calvelli, Tori Leigh Carufe, Sarah Anne Calvelli, Brandi Nicole Carufe, Daniel Peter Calvelli and devoted sister Terri Martinelli.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Paul Richard Carufe Sr., Son, Paul Richard Carufe Jr., and son-in-law, Peter W. Calvelli.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Cuoco Funeral and Cremation Services funeral home at 10 West End Avenue, Somerville, New Jersey on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church located at 157 South Triangle Rd., Hillsborough, New Jersey. Barbara will be laid to rest at Cold Spring Cemetery located at 36 Peekskill Rd., Cold Spring NY.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, or an animal shelter of your choice.
